A reference for the elements, fonts, and conventions used to build a faction board.

Typography
Root uses two typefaces. Decorative titles are set in Luminari; body text is set in Baskerville 10 Pro (with Bold, Italic, and Bold-Italic variants).

Board Elements
Examples from The Forge of the primary elements a faction board can contain. Use these as a reference when building your faction.
Structure
Phases
The primary turn structure of a faction broken into Birdsong, Daylight and Evening.
Phase Step
A step within Birdsong, Daylight, or Evening.
Sections
Faction boards can have other sections outside of the Phase box that contain any number of elements.
Faction Ability
Special faction abilities listed at the top of the board and marked with a berry icon.
Card Slot Section
A row of card slots at the top of the faction board like the Decree or Retinue.
Actions
When composing an action's text, the action name typically uses the "H" large text format.
Standard Action
An action that can be taken by the faction x number of times per turn.
Card Action
An action that can be taken by revealing or discarding a specific card.
Item Action
An action that can be taken by exhausting an item.
Custom Action
A action that can be taken with some other cost. Each action can have a unique icon.
Tracks
Token Track
Grid of Tokens with optional headers, dividers, and backgrounds. Can be compressed when there is not enough room (like the Sympathy track).
Building Track
Grid of Buildings or squares with optional headers, dividers, and backgrounds. Like the LotH's Hoard or the Eyrie's Roosts
Information
Legend
A keyed list of images with labels and short descriptions. Helps players reference different pieces like the Corvid plots.
Scale
A range & result table typically used for scoring or card draw like the LotH's Oppress or Diaspora's Draw step.
Boxes
Boxes
Titled bordered box for meeples or items like the Vagabond's Satchel or Riverfolk's Funds. Available in small, medium, and large sizes.
Card Pile
A titled stockpile area for cards like the Eyrie Leaders or the Cult's Lost Souls.

Character Image
Decorative artwork placed on the faction sheet.
Inline Icons
Icons that can be inserted between words in most places. Select from the preexisting list or add your own.
