River Town
by totgeboren
It started with a siege theme in mind, but sieges are slow and static, so that aspect was simplified massively. Then eventually the river became like a mix of a river and the lake and became a more important feature of the map.
It does break some of the implied rules of the official maps, such as having clearings with 3 build slots and none of them being a ruin, and also having a clearing with just one path leading to it(!). The 3 build slots is very much on purpose, to really make the town the focal point of the battle, while the clearings surrounding it are remote and inaccessible.
Like the Gorge map by LotB it also sports some forests with only 2 adjacent clearings, the bane of many a badger player!
However, here it's also very much on purpose, as those are either the Town and stealing the most valuable relics just isn't feasible without incurring the wrath of the locals, or it's a scary swamp with a monster hiding within!
Also, badgers are really powerful as is, and they can most definitely win here anyway. And one of the design goals was a map that gave some new challenges and opportunities. I very much did not want it to feel like a reskin of any of the official maps (and hopefully not of any fan map either!)
