Law of Root

English

TS.1 OVERVIEW

You have no warriors or buildings since you are a fungi, but that won't stop you from taking over the forest. Use your spores to "recruit" new warriors and spread your fungal forest to take over the woodland. Earn VP for every clearing with at least one mushroom. Mushrooms infect warriors that get to close. Sneakily spread your mycelium network, the heart of your expansion, undetected through mobs and even under peoples paws. Turn the woodland into a dense jungle where it's too crowded for buildings and everything gets overgrown. Creep slowly but aggressively destroying everything in your way, because you are "The Spore".

TS.2 FACTION RULES AND ABILITIES

TS.2.1
Crafting.
Every pair of mushroom and infected counts as one crafting "point" in that clearing's suit. You can have multiple crafting "points" in the same clearing.
TS.2.2
Mycelium.
The mycelium is immune to every form of damage except battles, that means mobs won't destroy the mycelium. Enemies also only get points from removing the mycelium, not flipping it. There can at most be one mycelium in a clearing. A flipped mycelium is commonly referred to as uncovered.
I
Connected Network.
A connected network is a network of mycelium that connects back to the homeland mushroom. It has to connect through paths and can never connect through rivers or solid rock.
TS.2.3
Mushrooms.
The maximum amount of mushrooms in a clearing is equal to the building slots + 1. If there are 2 or more mushrooms in a clearing you automatically rule that clearing and all enemy tokens & buildings are removed from the board without earning you VP. Other factions are also not allowed to build new tokens or buildings there.
I
Homeland Mushroom.
The Homeland Mushroom counts as a mushroom and immediately infects enemy pieces who enter it's clearing.
TS.2.4
Infection Markers.
Infection markers are similar to warrior pieces except they have to be on another factions warrior piece to function. If you run out of them you can't get more infected and you put them on other factions warrior pieces to mark that they are infected.
I
Warriors with Infection Markers.
Enemy warriors with infection markers (commonly referred to as "infected") count as your warriors and only return to their supply when killed.
II
The Infected.
For you to be able to control your infected they need to be next to a clearing with a connected network. If they are not next to a clearing with a connected network they will still defend against attacks but you cannot command them.
TS.2.5
Infection Edge Cases.
There are some edge cases with infections.
I
Warlord Infection.
If the warlord becomes infected the hundreds can't use it until it get's returned to storage. To balance this other factions can choose to target the warlord in battle against you as an attacker meaning it get's killed before other infected. They have to state this before the die are rolled.
II
Vagabond Infection.
If the vagabond is supposed to become infected one item gets damaged and you get one extra daylight action instead.
TS.2.6
Why Insurgant?
This faction is marked as an insurgant even though it's aggressive because it needs a steady supply of warriors from other factions to operate successfully. Marking it as an insurgant means that there will always be at least one other militant faction to supply those pieces.

TS.3 FACTION SETUP

TS.3.1
The Spore Setup.
The Spore setup takes place before any other setup.
TS.3.2
Step 1: Choose a Homeland.
The first step of the setup is to choose a homeland clearing and put 1 of each: Homeland Mushroom, Mycelium and Mushroom.
TS.3.3
Step 2: Tracks.
The last setup step is to fill your mycelium track with the mycelium.

TS.4 BIRDSONG

TS.4.1
Infection.
Every piece next to a clearing with a mushroom is infected.
TS.4.2
Mushroom Growth.
You can grow 1 mushroom in a clearing with a connected network for free and grow one additional in the same or a different clearing with a connected network if you sacrifice an infected in that clearing.
TS.4.3
Mycelium Growth.
You can spend a card to grow a mycelium from a clearing with a connected network, thus expanding the connected network, or spend a bird card to spread to 2 different clearings of the same or different suits. If using a bird card you can't spread from one of the new mycelium to the other. I.E. you can't spread into a clearing, and then spread from that new clearing.
TS.4.4
Natural Covering.
If there is a dug up mycelium in a clearing with no enemy warriors, then flip the mycelium to covered.

TS.5 DAYLIGHT

TS.5.1
Spread Spores.
In every clearing with 3 ore more mushrooms you can choose a target clearing anywhere on the map and roll the battle die to determine how many warriors are infected.
I
Multiple Enemies in Spore Target.
If there are multiple enemy types in a spore target clearing you get to choose what pieces get infected. If there's a warlord you first have to infect every other hundreds piece in that clearing.
TS.5.2
Command the Infected.
Your infected will carry out these actions and you can pick any of them in any combination up to 3 actions.
I
Move.
It works as a standard move except you cannot move farther than one clearing away from the nearest connected network.
II
Battle.
It works as a standard battle.
III
Cover.
Flip one uncovered mycelium in the same clearing as the infected.

TS.6 EVENING

TS.6.1
Craft.
You craft items using pairs of mushrooms and infected.
TS.6.2
Scoring.
You earn VP based on the amount of clearings with at least one mushroom.
TS.6.3
Draw and Discard.
Draw one card, plus one per uncovered draw bonus. Then, if you have more than five cards in your hand, discard cards of your choice until you have five.
